Dr. Beck is well known for his efforts in working for global peace, including South Africa's peaceful transition from apartheid to democracy and more recently with the Middle East's struggle to negotiate peaceful solutions to long-standing conflicts. His point of emphasis for this conference is about coping with and navigating difficult change in organizations and systems. A short paragraph from his biographical sketch states: Spiral Dynamics concepts are being used in various contexts literally around the world. Dr. Beck was invited to No. 10 Downing Street in December to meet with members of the "policy unit" in a search for ways to implement "Third Way" initiatives in UK and abroad. Beck has discussed racial issues with President Bill Clinton and deep reconciliation strategies with President Nelson Mandela. You may get more information about this conference (the complete brochure and program agenda) on the Prairie View web. Click on upcoming events and scroll to "Surviving and Thriving in Times of Transition." Note: Prairie View staff may attend for ? price: $73 for 9.5 CEUs; $58 without CEUs, if registered by March 31. Message-ID: <115711.28873.qm@web81208.mail.mud.yahoo.com> Dear Anita - We had our executive committee for Retired Clergy & Spouses Association meeting Monday, so here's all the latest news & questions resulting from said meeting: 1. We voted to hold our banquet at 1:00 pm Tues., with a fellowship time from noon to 1:00. We'd like to have de-caf coffee, iced tea & water available during that hour (no punch - it didn't sound appetizing for a noon hr.) Needless to say this needs to get on the web pg. A.C. info spot. We anticipate winding up our time together some time between 3 & 4 o'clock. 2. Menu for the banquet: chicken Cordon Bleu, Au gratin potatoes, Italian blend veggies, and a variety of pies for dessert. Quite a lot of the desserts need to be sugar free, and if the Bi-Center chooses to have a jello salad, it needs to be sugar free. I imagine we would prefer some type of garden salad however, but there was no choice offered on the sheet you faxed me. 3. We will need a piano, and respectfully request that it be tuned properly and fit to accompany our group singing and some of our prrgram offerings. (Last yr. the piano wasn't hardly fit to sing to! Out of tune, some keys sticking, general tone very poor.) We would be most grateful if we could have a better piano this yr., is such is within your power! 4. We'll need 2 regular long tables (placed in 2 separate locations) to lay out letters from those unable to attend, and 2 small tables to place by the two entrance doors for our "Pass the Torch" informational material, plus baskets for checks & envelopes. A stage for the piano and our meeting leaders & program folks, plus at least one mic, are also needed. 5. Will our flyers about the banquet and the Pass the Torch Scholarship Fund be admissable on the A.C. info web pg.? 6. What will be the date a final count for the banquet has to be communicated to you? I believe that's all for the time being. Many thanks for all your fine help with all of this. Blessings - Mary Al -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I will relay your requests to the Bi-Center. The only problem I see is having the piano on the stage. It will probably sit on the floor close to the stage. I believe they have tuned the piano for us inthe past. If you send your flyers to me I will assemble them with the others to be distributed. I would like to have them by April 30. Your final count needs to be turned in by May 15. That is the date I plan to have all meal counts to the Bi-Center. Let me know if you have anymore questions or concerns.
