Hope UMC in the early 1990s, was killed in a car accident west of Topeka Aug. 31. Barbara is a former UMC pastor from the Smolan/Mentor area. Harlan has had 2 bypass surgeries in the past. Two of the last 3 Bi-Passes are open. but one is 100 % blocked. We visited him Friday and he thought he would go home yesterday, but he had some more problems yesterday. He has called to report that he will have surgery to open another artery Tuesday morning. He is diabetic and they are doing some tests plus regulating his medication. Frank was to be in surgery for his nose yesterday but the doctor canceled the procedure until the shingles are under control. Frank is expected to be at the VA until Friday. Visitors are welcome to build up his faith. Pastor Laney and Emogene Kuhn are on their way back slowly from Louisiana. He seems to be doing well enough to get the go ahead from the doctor to return to Haysville. Thank you for your prayers and concerns while Laney was in the hospital the last few weeks.
