BlankWould your church like hospital notification, with patient's permission, when they are in Salina Regional Health Center?
The HIPPA regulations you all have heard so much about has changed the ease of notification.

In conversation with the Hospital Nursing Department at Salina Regional Medical  Center the following became apparent: 

If a patient seems to the nurse to need some extra support, or has spiritual concerns, or needs something done at home and has no one to do it, or has a need for a visit, or has no one to check on them when they are discharged...., the SRHC nursing staff believe, that if they have a list of Parish Health Personnel or contacts to refer to, that more often the church will be contacted with patient's permission than presently is the case.  

They especially are concerned about people with no family nearby who are discharged without qualifying for home health and who need to be checked on.

They did not have personnel they could assign to gathering this information so they asked if I could help do that and present the information to them.

If you want to be contacted with the patient's permission, please send this information to me by email which I will collate and send to the nursing department.
